Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary is based in Upminster Essex and has been since 1976. We are a registered charity and take in unwanted and neglected animals. We care for them and aim to find new loving and permanent homes for those we can once they are ready. Those we can't, remain with us and live at the sanctuary as permanent residents.  Permanent residents can be sponsored to help us feed them, care for them and provide veterinary care when needed. Many of our permanent residents have ongoing medical needs so are on medication. Some have behavioural problems and sanctuary life suits them better.

We are home to a variety of animals including dogs and cats, small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, chinchilla and a degu), farm animals; including pigs, goats, sheep, turkeys, chickens, ducks and a goose.

We also have some reptiles whom needed a safe and appropriate home with us. Our reptiles are corn snakes and ball pythons, leopard geckos and Georgina, a sulcata tortoise.

We rely entirely on public donations to keep going and remain open and to provide care for our many animals.

We hold various fundraising events throughout the year at the sanctuary and at other venues.

One of our ways of fundraising is through our charity shop located inside the Romford Shopping Hall on the 1st floor. We are neighbours of The Hideout Cafe and Kiddiewinks Soft Play.

We sell various new and good quality second hand items and sometimes even sort after collectibles. You will find something for everyone in our shop including your pets.

Our shop is run by our group of friendly volunteers. All money raised from our shop goes towards caring for our rescued animals and the ongoing upkeep of the sanctuary.

We look forward to seeing you at the Romford Shopping Hall.
